| My engine block is currently being machined right now.. There will be a skim taken off the block surface to ensure the surface is straight and flat. I also will be aquiring a set of TT heads which are believe to never have been decked (completely stock). I will be disassembling them here at the shop.. then getting them professionally hot tanked, pressure tested, vacuum tested etc. Then back at my shop for me to install JWT 500 cams, JWT HD valve springs and Z1 Viton valve stem seals. This engine should see around 850 engine horsepower.
IIRC.. the MAX that can be taken off is .008" (heads and block COMBINED). I would like to keep the heads un-decked if possible. I would like to keep the relationship from center of crank to center of cams close as stock as possible. -If the sufrace is flat and straight.. is it normal practice to deck the heads anyway? (heads have over 100k miles on them) -What is the MAX that I can deck both the heads and block by using the STOCK headgaskets? I DO NOT want to run cometic or any metal/layered head gasket. I would like to keep compression at 8.5:1.
Any info on this would be great!
Thanks! Kong
